This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data when you use QuizOps as a reader or publisher.

3. Information We Collect

3.1 Information You Provide

• Account information: When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from Google OAuth.
• Quiz content: Article URLs and text you submit for quiz generation.
• Quiz responses: Answers you submit when taking a quiz, scores, and time taken.
• Publisher profile: Username, display name, bio, and website URL you provide when setting up a publisher account.

3.2 Information Collected Automatically

• Usage data: Pages visited, quiz attempts, generation requests, timestamps.
• Device information: Browser type, operating system, IP address.
• Cookies: Session cookies for authentication. Analytics cookies for Google Analytics (see Section 6).

3.3 Information We Do NOT Collect

• Payment information (not processed by QuizOps directly).
• Sensitive personal information (health, financial, government ID).

4. How We Use Your Information

We use collected information to:

• Provide and operate the QuizOps platform
• Save and display your quiz progress and scores
• Generate quizzes from article content using AI (see Section 5)
• Send you email notifications about your account (when applicable)
• Improve the platform through usage analytics
• Enforce our Terms of Service and content moderation policies

5. AI Processing — Important Disclosure

When you submit an article URL or text for quiz generation:

• The article text is sent to OpenAI's API (GPT-4o mini) for question generation.
• OpenAI processes this text on their servers according to their Privacy Policy (openai.com/policies/privacy-policy).
• We do not store your article text after the quiz is generated — it is used only for the generation request.
• By using the quiz generation feature, you confirm you have the right to submit the article content for processing.

• All user data is stored in Supabase (hosted on AWS in the US region).
• Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest.
• We implement Row-Level Security (RLS) — users can only access their own data.
• We do not sell your data to any third party.

8. Data Retention

• Account data is retained as long as your account is active.
• Quiz attempt data is retained indefinitely to provide score history.
• You may request deletion of your data at any time (see Section 10).

• Essential cookies: Required for authentication and session management. Cannot be disabled.
• Analytics cookies: Google Analytics to understand usage patterns. You may opt out via your browser settings or Google's opt-out tool.
